Electric Flight Motion Simulation (FMS) Systems
Ideal Aerosmith specializes in the design and manufacture of high-performance
motion systems for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) testing of missile seekers (IR,
Laser or RF), guided munitions and inertial guidance systems.
Ideal is the premier supplier of state-of-the-art direct-drive electric motion systems.
These systems feature high-torque, direct-drive DC brushless motors that provide
a very attractive “torque to weight ratio” when compared to electric “brush-type”
DC drive motors.
Ideal Aerosmith electric flight motion simulators are configured with the
AERO 4000™ Digital Motion Controller. This controller is Ideal Aerosmith’s
flagship controller and an essential component of the larger Ideal motion simulation
systems. Our AERO 4000™ Controller is built upon commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS)
hardware and software platforms to minimize cost and delivery schedules, as well
as to provide Ideal’s customers with a product that does not lock them into proprietary
technology and single-source part vendors.
Built from the ground up for configurability of both hardware and software, the
AERO 4000™ is the most robust controller available for performing high-dynamic HWIL
missile and guided munitions flight simulations.
The following electric table systems are most commonly used for HWIL applications.
Please refer to the appropriate table system page for more information.
1573P Series
Product Description:
The 1573P Series would be considered the entry-level system for HWIL testing. It
offers good precision and dynamic performance.

1583 Series
Product Description:
The 1583 Series has 3 primary versions, each with different performance capabilities.
In general, the table systems in the 1583 Series family exhibit high acceleration
characteristics, and very high velocities for the roll axis. Some versions include
an offset, in order to place a specific section of the test article at the intersection
of the pitch and azimuth axes. The likely application for a 1583 Series Table System
is for testing a guided munition.

2003 Series
Product Description:
The 2003HP also has some design variances based on application requirements, but
is certainly our high precision table system with position accuracies of 1-2 arcsec
absolute, and a rate accuracy and stability of 0.0001%.
