Controller Systems
Ideal Aerosmith AERO motion table controllers are designed to control single-axis
and multi-axis test tables with unparalleled accuracy and precision. Ideal Aerosmith
offers several different models depending on the application and the system requirements.
AERO motion controllers are integrated with interface hardware and software to create
easy-to-use motion simulation instrumentation. The Aerosmith Table Language (ATL)
provides a simple command that allows test engineers to easily integrate an AERO
controller into their application without compromising accuracy or performance.
History
Ideal Aerosmith pioneered the use of COTS components for Inertial Motion Test Systems
in the late 1980s using single-board, computer-based motion control cards driven
by a PC over a serial communications link. In 1993, Ideal Aerosmith introduced the
AERO 900 Motion Controller, an ISA bus-based motion controller running Ideal Aerosmith
software. It is extremely easy to use, yet capable of controlling three axes at
a 1 kHz command frame rate. The AERO 900 has been updated during the past decade
to add new features, and it is still supported today for legacy applications.
In 1998, Ideal Aerosmith lowered the cost of motion control with the introduction
of the AERO 800 Motion Controller, built around the popular PC-104 platform. The
AERO 800 delivered the same reliability that made the AERO 900 popular, while enhancing
its usability with a color touch-screen interface. In 2002, Ideal further improved
the AERO 800 by developing the AERO 8X2, which incorporated the PC-104+ platform
and additional interface capacity. In 2002, the AERO 8x2 replaced the AERO 900 as
the standard controller on most test tables.
The AERO 4000™ is the latest evolution in Ideal's long history of developing high-performance,
cost-effective motion control products. The AERO 4000™ was released in 2006 and is
quickly becoming the standard controller on many new Ideal Aerosmith products and
is the controller-of-choice for retrofitting systems in the field whether they were
manufactured by Ideal Aerosmith or someone else.
AERO 4000™ Motion Controller System
The AERO 4000™ is designed for use with Ideal's high precision or high-dynamic Hardware-in-the-Loop
Flight Motion Systems, rate table systems, and precision centrifuges. The AERO 4000™
is also used for replacing the aging or obsolete control electronics on older flight
motion systems and rate tables, thus improving performance, providing new features,
increasing reliability and extending the support life cycle of an existing system.
AERO 8x2
AERO 8x2 Motion Controller System
The AERO 8X2 Digital Motion Controller is a digital motion controller for cost-effective
control of rate tables, positioning systems, and other direct-drive inertial guidance
motion test systems. Its modular design is capable of controlling one, two, or
three-axis motion table systems that use optical encoder position feedback sensors.
The AERO 8x2 is a PC-104+ based controller with an integrated color VGA touch-screen
interface.
Model 1291
1291 Series Motion Controller System
The motion controller provided with a Model 1291 single-axis table does not have
a dedicated interface other than the remote computer interface. The 1291 controller
is a stand-alone controller that is designed to be interfaced to a PC. For more
information, refer to the 1291 Positioning & Rate Table System Brochure.
